Lindiwe Nkosi-Thomas holds B Juris and LLB degrees. She was admitted to the Johannesburg Society of Advocates in 1994 and took silk in 2009. Her preferred areas of practice include commercial litigation and arbitrations; labour litigation and disciplinary enquiries; mining law, constitutional litigation, aviation and competition law. She has appeared in all divisions of the High Courts in South Africa.
Further to her practice, Lindiwe has been an acting judge of the Gauteng and North West High Courts. In 2011 she was Chairperson of the Appeal Board of the Financial Services Board, while in 2009 she served on the Board of Trustees of Government Employees Medical Scheme. Lindiwe was also a non-executive director of South African Airways and of its subsidiary, Mango Airlines, in 2008. In 2007 and 2008 she was Vice Chairperson of the Advertising Standards Authority Tribunal of South Africa. From August 2005 to March 2006 she was the Chairperson of a Ministerial Committee of Enquiry. She was also a Commissioner at the Broadcasting Complaints Commission of South Africa from 1999 to 2004.
